Description

Collection of Panama error coins including both minor and major errors.  This is an ongoing, long term project.  When completed will include around 225 pieces.  To see a clear, larger image of a coin, just click on the photo.***Collection is kept in the bank, and future additions will be made to the listing as photos are taken and posted periodicly.

Panama 1/2 c 1907 Struck Off Center & Double Date. Panama, 1907. 1/2c struck about 5% to 10% off center.  The date is also doubled as well as Republica De Panama, but most readily seen on Repub.   Size is 17 mm and slightly under measured in different position.  The weight is 2.53 grams.  Condition is about E.F. .

Panama 1/2 c 1907 Clipped Planchet & Doubled Reverse. Panama, 1907. 1/2c 1907 clipped planchet at 4 o'clock positoin and less so at 11 o'clock position.  The reverse side is double die variety.  Choice uncirculated.

Panama 1/2c 1907 Double Die Obverse & Reverse. Panama, 1907. Double die both sides.  On the obverse most easily seen on the date.  On the reverse side more boldy doubled especially the word Balboa.  Graded MS-63 by ANACS, serial #476336.

Panama 1c 1953 Clipped Planchet. Panama, 1953. Clipped planchet at 3 o'clock position.  This date is a one year type struck for the 50th Anniversary of The Republic Of Panama.

Panama 1c (1962) Blank Planchet. Panama, (1962). Blank planchet cent.  Eugene Hamlin Jr, found this coin in a sack of Panama 1c 1962. The coin is in the original flip holder in which he placed the coin.  Over the years I viewed Gene's collection of coins, tokens, etc  a number of times, and after his passing the coin was acquired by Robert Karrer, and years later to me.

Panama 1c 1967 Clipped Planchet, 2 clips. 1967, Panama. Clipped planchet in 2 places.  At approx 12 o'clock and 2 o'clock positions in relation to the portrait.  Choice uncirculated condition.

Panama 1c 1971 Rotated Reverse 5%, Proof. . Panama, 1971. The coin is struck about 5% rotated.  Not easy to notice, but in the coin holder shows the slight rotation, when both sides are compared at the same time.  Proof condition.

Panama 1c 1975 KM33.1 Struck On KM22 Bronze Planchet. Panama, 1975. The correct 1c 1975 KM33.1 was struck on a copper-plated zinc planchet.  This coin in error was struck on a KM22 bronze planchet.   Two different design coins were struck in the year 1975, with the present coin being struck on the wrong planchet. Weight is 3.06 grams.  A correct KM33.1 should weigh 2.5 grams.

Panama 2 1/2c 1904 Struck Off Center. Panama, 1904. Panama 2 /2 c struck off cemter. Edge not reeded.  The photo shown is an enlargement of the acutal coin in my collection.  After I purchased this coin in 1966 I sent it to Panama specialist, Dr. Edward Majilton, to inspect.  He had his son, Mark Majilton, take the photo.  At some point in the future I will take additional photos of the coin to add to the listing.

Panama 5c 1966 Double Struck. Panama, 1966. Double struck with 2nd strike 90% off center.  Seen on denomination side at 11 to 12 o'clock position.  The reeding from the 2nd strike is clearly visible.  When turned over the metal can be see extening outward from the rim / edge. .
