Description

gabriel GO-9 with liberty bell on one side with the date 1776, and the statue of liberty on the other side with the date 1886. it is 18mm across, and there are two of them. it is thought by some, that these tokens were made by a non paris mint, and sold during the dedication ceremony in 1886.

42 items (showing items 1–20)

GO-1. Paris mint, created for 1876 united states centennial. 51mm bronze. The word statue is spelled "statuaire", and the word both is spelled with two o's.

GO-3. Paris mint, around 1876. Franco-Americaine union piece. A souvenir of france and american independence.  piece was created by Oscar Roty.  It is bronze and has the mint mark on the edge.  this piece is not in uncirculated condition, but has been appreciated by some one else for years, and now by me.

GO-3 restrike. Paris mint, 1986. 68-69mm silvered bronze. A positively beautiful medallion with great features.

GO-4. Paris mint, thought to be 1886. 59mm dedication piece for the Statue of Liberty. Possibly one of the major dedication pieces given to dignitaries that october.  In the truncation of the neck is the engraved word "barber".  This was my first find, and started my collection of Liberty pieces.

GO-4 (2). Paris mint, 1886. This dedication piece was for the statue of liberty ceremony. This is the 38mm sized token.  they were sold by the united states people to create funds for the base of the statue of liberty.  they were minted in paris.  the ones without holes were deemed to be more collectible.  Liberty Enlightening the World is on the back.  The word BARBER is on the truncation of the neck, and no initials under the reverse scene.

GO-5. Paris mint, thought to be 1884-1886. 38mm white metal. The statue is skinny on this token, and the brooklyn bridge is on the right side.  The letters under the truncation of the neck are R.L.  and the lettering under the scene on the reverse are A.D-F and R.L.

GO-5(2). Paris mint, thought to be 1884 to 1886. Bronze 1886 dedication piece for the statue of liberty. This bronze medal has a picture of Bartholdi on the front with a neck truncation that reads R.L.  On the reverse side under the scene are the initials A.D-F(only).  the shinyness of this piece makes it look much different than the white metal pieces.

GO-5a. Paris mint, thought to be 1884-1886. 38mm white metal. On this medal the statue of liberty is skinny.  The lettering under the truncation on the neck reads R.L. And on the back under the scene are the letters R.L. And A.D-F.

GO-9. Most likely the united states, thought to be 1884-1886. 18mm. I have several of these pieces and they are all identical.  Im told they were sold to raise funds for the statue base from 1884 to 1886, but cant get verification of this.  The main thing is that i enjoy them.

G0-14. U.S. Mint, 1892. 38mm aluminum medal to celebrate 400 years of columbus discovery. This is one of my premier pieces with excellent detail.  The original ribbon is in place and is of very good detail as well.

GO-16. United states, 1889. The Brooklyn Burgher was the first satrical piece of the Statue. This piece was commissioned to celebrate the centennial of the inauguration of our first president.  a paudry man standing on a stump holding an ear of corn is on the front, and the brooklyn bridge is on the back.

G0-17?. Unknown, unknown late 1880s. Brooklyn Burgher satiracal piece. The one side is similar to G0-16 with a different saying.  This paundry man is on a stump with an ear of corn being held in the air.  Around the outside is the saying, See Dot Oder Side.  and, on the other side is a picture of president and mrs. Cleveland.  This is a nice bronze piece measuring  about 25mm.

G0-18. U.s. Mint, 1890"s. Third satirical piece of the Statue of Liberty. The brooklyn burgher is on the front, and the picture of president McKinley  is on the back.  See dot oder side is on the front just like the other McKinley piece.  25mm in size.
