36 items (showing items 1–20)

New York evacuated. United states, 1883. An 1883 bronze piece listed as Baker 463A that is only 16mm across. This piece is interesting because of its size and that it still has the ribbon attched to it, and it is uncirculated.  This is a William H. Key piece done in bronze.

Calendar medal. United states, 1799 date of front, but produced in 1858. Brass calendar medal with back still attached. 34mm medal with readable dates.  I have a second one of these with the back spinner missing, but a nice front.  In the books, this is known as Baker 387.  Around the front side on the bottom is printed "The father of our country".  Nice equestrian piece.

Undated double-head. England, guessed to be 1783-1785 or later. A pre U.S. Mint piece. Called a Washington Portrait Piece. I have a number of these, and each one feels good to hold and look at and appreciate.  The EF and AU ones i can look at time and time again.  Washington faces left on both sides.  One side says Washington and the other side says One Cent.  Very nice copper coins!  Known as Baker 6, they are about 28mm in size.  This is considered to be a military bust piece, and has an 8 pointed star under Washington.

Large Military Bust. England, Dated 1783, but probably minted around 1820. Washinton Portrait Piece. These were the pre one-cent pieces used until the United States mint was completed.   I have several of the draped bust pieces.  This one has Washington in front of bust.  There about 10 varieties of this medal all done in copper.

Centennial Participation Badge. United states, 1889. Washington anniversary medal to celebrate his inauguration. This is a white medal piece that is 37mm in size and is listed as Douglas 43.

Washington Masonic National Monument. U.s. Mint, 1932. George Washington as Master for the years 1788 and 1789. This medal is to note the dedication day of May 12, 1932 in Alexandria, Virginia of the Washington Monument.  The monument is on one side and George standing on the other.

Philadelphia Sesquicentennial medal. U.s. Mint, 1926. Exposition piece for 1926 with bust of washington. A nice copper piece with both washington and the liberty bell on the front.  The back is a modern art display of a winged horse and rider.

1892 Encampment medal. United states, 1892. A silvered medal that started me looking at GAR tokens. This was my very first token, and was purchased so i could examine it and try to figure out was G.A.R. Stood for.  My appreciation grew and grew not only for the time period, but for the history and the effort to regroup a country.  This piece measures 34mm and has the large logo on the backside.  It also has a loop and hole on the top.

New York worlds fair. New york, 1939 for the 1940 fair. Brass piece measuring about 31mm. Front side reads "for peace and freedom" and shows
george Washington standing.  the backside indicated the 1940 fair, and that it was created by etched products.

Octagon medals. unknown, 1932. Eight sided tokens with Washington facing right. I have a few of these pieces and they are all different.  The one pictured is gilt brass and has nothing on the back.  Another is copper with no back design, but is much older, circa 1908.  Another is bronze with a plain back.  All are about 25mm in size.  The one pictured was labeled "similar to baker m652 or a 654".  All have Washington on the left side of the token.

Wakefield Birthplace. Whitehead and hoag, 1932. Washington birth centennial piece. This gilt brass piece is light weight and shinny. The backside shows the restored home of George Washington at Popes creek.  The size of this piece is 32mm.

Civil war Washington. Unknown, 1863. A civil war token the size of 18mm. The front side has washington and the date 1863 with stars all around a head facing right.  The back says "no compromise" with a wreath all the way around the edge plus two cannons.

Paquet mint series. Phadelphia ment, 1799 is listed. 155B bronze piece dated 1799. This uncirculated token is bright and shinny and crystal clear.  the leaves on the back stand out nicely.  The words born 1732 died 1799 are very clear on this 18mm medal.

Swastika Badge. Unknown, 1932. Hard rubber centennial piece labeled 1932 B-B_930. This hard rubber badge is my only rubber medal, and it is graded MS-64.  The size is 34mm by 46mm and has a nice reddish brown color.  I purchased this piece from a seller for a small amount, but then the seller accidentally sent the piece to Stacks Auction house by mistake.  So, it has been professionally prepared and sealed in a nice container.  It took about 5 months to relocate the piece and get it in my possession.  It is now probably worth several times what i paid for it, but is appreciated.

Liberty and Security penny. 1795 but undated. Washington portrait piece. This is one of the non-corded pieces.  It has better detail than my photo shows.

Peace Proclaimed. U.s. Mint, 1883. A centennial medal to commemorate the 1783 victory over the british. The british leaving New York was a celebrated evacuation.  The army was then dispanded.  This is a white metal piece measuring about 32mm.  This is listed as Baker 461 and has Lovett on the truncation.  The word evcuation is curved on this piece, and Washington is facing right.  In the book, this is listed as Peace Proclaimed.

Charms Candy medal. Light aluminum advertising piece.

Inaugural Centennial medal. Unknown, 1889. White metal about 29mm in size. This New York piece has Washington on the front.  On the back is a picture of the federal hall on wall street where he was inaugurated.  dated april 30th 1789.

Washington Headquarters Morristown. unknown. N.J. Headquarters medal with loop. This unlisted badge is 32mm in size and is made of a shinny copper colored metal.  It is uncirculated and one sided.  More info will be available after i get a microscope to read the small lettering on the bottom in the front.

Centennial of Inauguration. U.S. Mint, 1889. Washington on the front, and picture of Inauguration on back. This 50mm medal is made of white metal.  It is5mm thick and has a Douglas number of 48.  It is in nearly uncirculated condition with a rarity of R-7.
