1837. Silver. Diameter 32mm, 14.1 grams. The South Carolina Society was established in 1783 with  1000 British  pounds donated by Samuel Wainwright. This version of the 1837 medal commemorates the founding of the Society and it is far rarer than the diestruck rev format. I'd surmise that this version was only given to the very few still surviving charter members of the Society. I don't recall seeing another of this rev. Engraved variety.
