Brazil / Empire. D. Pedro I, 1822-1831. 960 réis, 1823-R. Rio de Janeiro. Levy 26.151. Amato 504. KM 368.1. Lupercio 9A (30 tulips). Silver, on Chile 8 reales 1816FJ, Santiago mint, Ferdinand VII. Diameter 42x41mm, 27.41 grams. Obverse: denomination in centre with large flowers at the bottom and top, smaller flowers on the left, right, and diagonals, all surrounded by an interlocking circular wreath of tulips. External cirlular inscription "PETRUS.I.D.G.CONST.IMP.PERP.BRAS.DEF.; date and mintmark at bottom. Reverse: Brazilian national coat of arms with branches of coffee to the left and tobacco leaves to the right. Along the upper edge; legend "IN HOC SIGNO VINCES". NGC MS-64. Weak strike at borders caused that almost 100% of host's legends to remain intact. Levy plate coin IX.13.
