Struck by the U.S. Mint, c.1865. Julian SC-7. Silver. Diameter 32.6mm, 16.7 grams. Engraved by Robert Lovett (signed R. LOVETT PH'A at lower obverse rim). Obverse: View of a 3 1/2 story building, with the legend BALTIMORE FEMALE COLLEGE around the top, and CHARTERED. MDCCCXLIX below exergue. Reverse: TO (with a space for a name) FOR EXCELLENCE IN (with a space for a name), all within a nearly closed wreath of laurel (left) and oak (right). Dies rotated approximately 30°.
