Colombia 5c 1902 Struck For Use In Panama

Representative Images

Colombia, 1902. Colombia 5c 1902 KM # 184, Copper-Nickel, larger size of two different 5c struck that year.  The 2 in the date is clearly double struck. This coin was struck reportedly for use in the then Department of Panama before Panama became independant.  Mintage listed at 400,000.  However, long considered to be a rare date.  This particular coin has what appears to be many scratches mostly on the face and into the hair of Ms. Liberty,  Under a small glass almost appears to be like fine hairs on the surface.  Uncertain, if this was on the original coin die, or outside the mint after issue.  Otherwise E.F. Condition.  Size is just shy of 20 mm, and weight 2.99 grams.
