Panama, 1894. This token is from the first series, dated 1894.  Series two without a date was issued ca 1894 to 1903.  And series three issued ca 1903, undated.  The obverse shows a gold miner with a shovel and pick with a scenic background.  The legend reads The Darien Gold Mining Company Limited.  The reverse has  large 50c in the center and counterstamped 3 at the base of the 5.  This is believed to represent camp #3 at the mines.  The legend reads Las Minas De Oro Darien A Cana 1894.  Brass, 8 sided (octagon).  The size is 31 mm and 33 at the diagonal corner tips.  Weight is 8.61 grams.
