Panama, 1982. 1/2B from 1982 dies struck in.400 fine gold, uniface trial strike, Balboa portrait side, with the other side blank. Piefort type striking, edge not reeded, and thicker than a normal coin. It is believed the gold piefort trial strike was struck using the original coin dies, but unofficial. Viewed as a medal or fantasy issue. Listed in the KM catalog as #TS9. Proof or proof-like condition, size 30 mm, with edge thickness just under 3 mm, and weight 21.83 grams.
