1752. Medallic Illustrations 667/377. Eimer 637. Copper. Diameter 51.2mm, 58.5 grams. Engraved by Richard Yeo (signed obverse truncation of bust, and reverse bottom step at foot of river god). Obverse: Laureate bust of George II with a mantle over armor, facing left, with legend GEORGIVS II PIVS FELIX PATER PATRIAE around. Reverse: Allegory of the University of Cambridge with the arms of the Duke of Newcastle, and Ceres handing a medal to the robe student; the god of the River Cam reclining; STVDIIS HVMANITATIS above and LIBERALITAS T HOLLES DVC NOVOCASTR ACAD CANCELL below the exergue line. Light brown with hints of red.
