1664. Obverse signed I. MAVGER. F. Bronze. Obverse shows a bust of Louis XIV. Legend translates as Louis XIV, Most Christian King. Reverse are Symbols of trade. The forerunner to John Law's Compagnie des Indes, the Society was founded under Colbert's regime as a counterpoise to England's merchant adventurer companies and was basically an arm of the state. Plain Edge. Cleaned. NCS AU.
