French mint by artist Charles Brenton, around 1918. WW1 medal honoring American soldiers who adopted French orphans. The obverse shows an american soldier embracing a french orphan with the Statue of Liberty in the background.  The piece is unlisted in the gabriel book.  The size is about 30mm square, and about 4 and one half inches long including the ribbon.  the translation to english might be "lets honor those that died for the freedom of the world while taking the defense of its orphans".
