France, 1677. Bronze. This commemorates the victory over the Dutch fleet and the French colony preserved at Tobago, which made way for the French to take the island. This was just one part in the European battle for dominance of the valuable islands of the West Indies. J. Mavger F. NGC MS-62 BN.
