I've been collecting coins since the age of thirteen - first starting with U.S. coinage in the 1970's, then branching out into Canadian and Maritimes Provinces in the mid 1980's. I started my elongated collection in the mid 1990's and naturally migrated to the "oldies" - those listed in the Martin-Dow book Yesterday's Elongateds and Doug Fairbanks Guide to Unlisteds. I currently have just over 1,500 different pieces in the collection out of an estimated 1,800 pieces known to me; however, unknown varieties still surface on a regular basis! The West Indian Expo collection started from my interest in trying to obtain the elongateds from that World's Fair and finding out just how difficult it was to locate almost anything from it!
